Privacy Policy (The Human Version)

Who we are

We’re Tazewell Green Press, found at https://tazewellgreenpress.com (where you are right now).
A small independent press, not a data-harvesting empire. Relax.

Comments

If you decide to leave a comment, we collect whatever you type into the form, plus the usual technical crumbs: your IP address and browser info. This helps us keep spam bots from declaring their undying love for our work.

If you use Gravatar, an anonymized hash of your email may be sent to them so they can check for a matching profile image. Their privacy policy is here: https://automattic.com/privacy/

. Once your comment is approved, your picture shows up next to it. If that bothers you, don’t comment or don’t use Gravatar.

Media

If you upload images, make sure they don’t contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Otherwise, clever visitors might learn exactly where that perfect sunset shot was taken. You’ve been warned.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies. This is purely for convenience so you don’t have to keep retyping things. These cookies stick around for a year.

If you visit the login page, we’ll set a temporary cookie to see if your browser accepts cookies. It disappears when you close your browser.

When you log in, we set a few more cookies to remember who you are and how you want things displayed. Login cookies last two days; display settings last a year. If you click “Remember Me,” your login lasts two weeks. Logging out clears the login cookies immediately.

If you edit or publish content, a cookie will record the post ID you last worked on. It contains no personal data and expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles may include embedded videos, images, or other items from outside sites. Those behave exactly as if you visited the source site directly.
Translation: they may collect data about you, use cookies, or track your interactions. We don’t control those sites, and they don’t report back to us. They just do their thing.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email. This is standard and not nearly as sinister as it sounds.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, we keep the comment and its metadata indefinitely. That way, we can recognize follow-up comments without forcing everything through moderation again.

If you register for an account (only necessary in rare cases), we store the information you give us in your profile. You can see, edit, or delete most of it whenever you like. Only usernames are permanent. Website administrators can access and edit profiles as needed.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also ask us to erase anything we’re not required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Email support@tazewellgreenpress.com

if that ever becomes necessary.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be screened through an automated spam detection service. That’s how we keep spambots from trying to sell us crypto schemes disguised as feedback.
